Saint Ignatius College Riverview Valete Week
A first-of-its-kind engaging and remotely accessible live broadcast of the Year 12 graduation experience, in fitting tribute to the College journey.
EP Agency was briefed to design and deliver a professional and engaging digital two day Valete experience for Saint Ignatius’ College’s community, to include parents, families and carers. The aim was to honour the Year 12 graduating class, their contributions to College life and celebrate their unique educational journey. 2020 was certainly a year full of challenges. The teaching and executive staff wanted to bring the focus back to the students’ academic achievements, rather than the environment and restrictions under which they graduated. The aim was to deliver the celebrations of this momentous milestone in a new and engaging way, underpinned by the College’s core values: gratitude, humility, service, inclusiveness, respectfulness, a pioneering spirit and Cura Personalis – care for the individual.
EP Agency combined extensive event planning experience with show production management to create this momentous solution.
Developing a two day program, referred to as Valete Week, it consisted of four key events and prize-giving ceremonies across three locations on the College grounds. The entirety of the festivities was live-streamed across Australia and abroad to families who would ordinarily be present.
Digital sequencing, seamless livestreaming and camera management ensured that those ‘virtual’ attendees’ were immersed in the proceedings. Formalities commenced each day with a moving indigienous Welcome to Country didgeridoo performance and smoking ceremony with a local elder, and included video recordings of Year 12 music performances.
A Zoom feed broadcasted the celebrations during major prize-giving moments, including the famed Insignis Medal. Viewers and guests enjoyed a Guard of Honour formed from students of years 7-11 and led by the College drumline, College Principal and student leaders in a tribute to the graduating class.
As an enduring touch, EP Agency also designed engaging video content that highlighted the graduating students’ 8-year journey during their time at the College.
Strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols was the utmost importance, and EP Agency diligently delivered a safe onsite experience for everyone involved by incorporating sanitisation stations and social distancing.
