Tabcorp Melbourne Cup Birdcage Marquee - Alfresco Café

Guests from around Australia enjoyed a luxurious European theme at another successful race day in the iconic Tabcorp Birdcage Marquee.

To design and activate a marquee within the coveted Birdcage at the prestigious Melbourne Cup Carnival at Flemington for the second year in succession. The challenge was to create and design a unique marquee that differentiated itself from the much adored design from the previous year.

For this concept EP Agency created an “Alfresco Café” themed marquee, delighting guests once again with a whole new experience within the Birdcage. It embodied glamour and sophistication, while quality finishes added perfection to the build.

The external facade boasted eye-catching faux hedging, open bay windows bordered with black and white striped French awnings and window boxes full of white orchids. An internal live flower mirror wall with cascading tonal pink roses combined with European black and white striped wall paper completed the look.

Adding to the alfresco dining experience, a fully functioning café with a uniquely designed menu by Melbourne celebrity chef Adam D’Sylva of CODA was a popular attraction for guests.

Race-goers enjoyed the option of viewing the race on one of the 16 internal plasma screens, or live whilst seated at the open bay windows elevated above the track.
