The great thing about my job is… Working with amazingly creative and talented people to transfer ideas from inside our heads, onto a page and into reality.
The challenge for industry is… Sustainability. Events require people and products to be transported that can be expensive, especially with rising fuel costs. However, webcasting and hologram presentations are making great gains on nailing this carbon contributor.
My greatest achievement is… I am hoping this is still ahead of me!
The biggest thing in MICE this year will be… Surviving the economic downturn. There is a rationalisation and consolidation taking place in the event industry at the moment, which is fiscally and emotionally difficult for some very talented people.
I try to relax by… Enjoying the company of my friends and family.
I don’t understand why… People say they are bored. There is a whole wide world of interesting people, books, films, places and experiences out there enjoy.
Currently the album on my iPod is… My selection is extremely eclectic. Right now I am loving The National, an indie rock band from Cincinatti.
My favourite venue is… We work in so many incredible places and spaces, so I can’t possibly choose. It depends on the day, the time, the weather and, of course, who I am there with.
I am scared to death of… Nothing, because I am still living. But seriously, I think the greatest remedy for fear is curiosity.
I can’t live without… The people I love and adore; my family, friends and my dream dog I have been fantasising about for the past decade.
Blackberry or iPhone…iPhone, hands down.
I really wish I had… A way to put more hours in a day.
If I could invite four people to a dinner party, they’d be… Only four? That’s a small dinner party. It would be a girl’s night out with Dolly Parton, Katharine Hepburn, Tina Fey and the Queen. I find them all fascinating.
